Not all weddings are the same. Pre-wedding events are a big part of your cultural wedding story. Adding coverage to these days not only ensures the important moments are captured, but also means more images added to as part of your wedding investment. Combining multiple pre-wedding events into the same day will save you time and money in the long run, but we’re always down for week long festivities. Depending on your customs and traditions, add on as many pre-wedding events as you’d like. We cover the following events in detail.
Sangeet: The sangeet is a night filled with singing and dancing. Coverage ranges between 4-6 hours. Generally the bride and groom’s side will have performances to entertain the guests. The sangeet is similar to the garba (a Gujarati night of dancing), dholki (a Pakistani pre-wedding celebration), and jago (a Punjabi night of fun.)
Mehndi: The mehndi, also known as the henna night, is the day the bride applies her henna to her hands and feet. The detailed henna designs can take hours of work. The bride’s female family and friends apply less elaborate henna on their hands as well. A similar celebration is also known as the mayoon.
Other Pre-Wedding Events: We provide hourly coverage for additional pre-wedding events not mentioned above including: the haldi or pithi ceremony, the engagement or roka ceremony, and any poojas blessing the soon to be married couple and their home.
Wedding: Whether you decide to get married at a venue, a temple, or Gurdwara, we arrive hours prior to the wedding ceremony to cover bride and groom prep, details, and couple’s portraits. Having multiple photographers on the day helps us capture the Baraat as the groom and his family dance their way to meet the bride’s family. The groom can arrive on a horse, an elephant, or a luxury car. During the wedding ceremony, we capture all key moments from the blessings to the anand karaj, to the vidaai. The wedding ceremony can range from an hour up to two. We also capture the Nikah, the vow exchange and marriage ceremony between the bride and groom.
Reception: There is generally a change in attire from the traditional wedding gown. The reception is an official celebration of the newly wed couple. From heartfelt toasts to captivating performances, the night is filled with good laughs, bittersweet tears, and loads of dancing. The reception is usually the largest event in the Indian Wedding series with hundreds of family and relatives from both sides. We also cover the Walima as well.
